The Silhouette
These images are a representation of how i want my pictures to look for the back of the DVD cover or for one of the posters which need to be designed.
A silhouette is the image of a person, animal, object or scene represented as a solid shape of a single color, usually black, with its edges matching the outline of the subject. The interior of a silhouette is featureless, and the whole is typically presented on a light background, usually white, or none at all.
They simplify the image, you're not distracted by details of what they're wearing, are they pretty or ugly, what color is their skin, do I like the details in the subject, etc., it makes you concentrate and generalize the image such that you, a third party can directly relate to and hopefully feel the moment.
Silhouettes can also be looked into as representing the big picture, and also it better represents an image that the artists wants you to see rather than a detailed picture where your focus/attention is spread throughout the details of the image, the plain black image gives off a simple and desired affect, and allows you to remember it easily
White is associated with light, goodness, innocence, purity and virginity. it is considered to be the colour of perfection. White means safety and cleanliness. White usually has a positive connotation and can represent a successful beginning. Whereas opposed to Black, black is associated with power, elegance, formality, death, evil and mystery. Black is a mysterious colour associated with fear and the unknown (black holes). It usually has a negative connotation (blacklist, black humour, 'black death'). Black denotes strength and authority; it is considered to be a very formal, elegant, and prestigious colour. Black gives the feeling of perspective and depth, but a black background diminishes readability.
Black and White Effect

The Red Effect
The idea of having the background black and white is to be able to draw the target audiences attention to the main imagine the frame which is going to be red. Red is the colour of fire and blood, so it is associated with energy, war, danger, strength, power, determination as well as passion, desire, and love.
Red is a very emotionally intense colour. It enhances human metabolism, increases respiration rate, and raises blood pressure. It has very high visibility, which is why stop signs, stoplights, and fire equipment are usually painted red. In heraldry, red is used to indicate courage. Red brings text and images to the foreground.
